ABOUT MARGHERITA
MY PHILOSOPHY
It is my mission to embody a movement that transcends technique, being strongly rooted in the skills that technique can provide. I believe that the systems are not goals in themselves but tools to learn how to be integrated bodies of wisdom and that the body has the inherent ability to support and heal itself, far beyond what we often take as limits. I'm passionate about the experience of the "right" way to move as the one that allows us to walk through the world with curiosity, dignity, awareness and respect.
I started studying dance in Italy at the age of 8. My main background is in modern dance and classical ballet, with contemporary techniques influenced by dance-therapy and eastern modalities. I now include in my roster of regular practices a variety of movement techniques including dance and yoga, but also Butoh, somatic movement and meditation, and recently the exploration of body suspension. In 2010 I started teaching yoga, specializing in anatomy and trauma-informed practices and developing a methodology that is based on inquiry and revolves around agency, context and connection. I live in New York, teaching yoga, Butoh, and mindful movement in studios, jails and substance abuse recovery programs, and coaching individuals in finding embodiment.
